Pros

The benefits package is great, flexable hours and schedule, school reimbursement and the teams have a "can-do" attitude. The work enviroment can be stressful, but for those on the production floor, it can be a wonderful work enviroment.

Cons

Upper management is mostly unaccessable. They communicate poorly with those in middle management, and set unrealistic goals that create hurdles in morale and productivity. Upper management's recognition of a job well do is rare, and is only handled on a formal level. Upper career movement limited.

Advice to Management

The upper management needs to practice "two-way" communication, understand the needs of the production teams, and give helpful guidance instead of negative criticism. There is a lck of trust form upper mangement that trickles down to the teams.

    Pros

The couple of pros to this company are the staff that work here (non-management) and the flexitime - that is it...!

    Cons

You get lied to by management, pay scales haven't changed in the last 3+ years. There is next to no chance for advancement. Salary reviews are just a paper exercise to the management team.

You never get a proper review, nothing is ever discussed on how to really improve and move to the next level.

There are no training plans, only OTJ training, it is never discussed in the employees annual review. All you end up getting is here is your 3% (sometimes even less) pay rise, that's it...To add to that a 3% rise of a low salary across the board equates to a non-verbal up yours, we don't value the work you do or the time you put in. Don't bother putting yourself out and working hard as we won't recognise it...Just do the bare minimum and you still get the same annual rise as everyone else!

Company pension is close to the bare minimum.

Medical is not the best and you don't have a choice of what level of cover it is and you get taxed on it if you take it up.

No real bonuses, you get a £300 taxable winter allowance at Christmas

They expect you to use your own holiday to attend conferences related to your job role, that they recommend you attend , they might pay for your train ticket to get there and they think that is acceptable!

    Advice to Management

Listen to the staff and don't knock them down there and then on the spot, take time to listen and go back and do some research on what their concerns are, then come back with some constructive plans/answers!

Conduct proper formal reviews with plans for the employee on what they need to do to progress within the company!

Remunerate employees properly, generate clear career paths, offer more training, offer cross training and don't take it out of the employees annual holiday allowance.

Don't have meetings arranged at lunch times to try and discuss issues, you are never going to get people to turn up during their own time.

Don't be so tight with the merit increases, and don't tell employees that CDG has had a great year and made xxx profit and then tell them they have to be leaner and do more for less when you've just given them the bare minimum salary increase.
