Pros

Great benefits (which are, alas, changing for the worse for new hires), job security, nice offices, close to public transportation

Cons

backward thinking, highly political (part of University of California), very little respect for non- lawyer staff, resistant to change, little opportunity for advancement

I have been working at Continuing Education of the Bar full-time

    Pros

It's affiliation with the UC system provides for an extensive and wide-ranging benefits package. Good work-life balance, solid and interesting colleagues, straight foreword job duties. Telecommute is allowed in some groups if it fits into the business needs of the department.

    Cons

Follows an obsolete business model, utilizes antiquated IT databases and delivery systems, offers a below market salary base, dismal management competency, across-the-board.

    Advice to Management

Model the behavior you would like to see each employee exhibit, as they relate to the CEB values. Engage employees by increasing self development training funding per department, and encourage advancement within the various levels of management. Update how you price, how you package the product, distribute the product, and deliver the service.
