Pros

Benefits are good. Good place to jump start your career. Operations and HR leadership programs are good.

Cons

Lack of cross-functional collaboration. No emphasis on teamwork. Many employees at various levels not appropriate for their jobs.

Advice to Management

Improve team-work within the organization. Hire A players. Please invest more in training and perform better screening/evaluation of internal candidates prior to promoting them.

I have been working at Cooper Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Has a good breadth of products; therefore, there are many employment possibilities. Benefits of a mid-sized company (things don't move too slowly, great way to network). The people are very nice and willing to help out. The company has a long history which adds to its credibility/reliability. Career development is one of the top priorities in the company, so it's a good place to build your career.

    Cons

At times, there's a lack for an innovative drive. Some parts of the company remain very traditional and conservative.

I worked at Cooper Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The work is fairly easy and there was always a lot to do. Most mid-level managers are good to work with and have a strong work ethic but need some development. The work environment is very customer driven.

    Cons

There were too many open positions that management either did not want to fill or were unable to fill. Seems like it was a shell game trying to cover all of the openings with the same people. Very surprising that they could not attract people given the state of the economy.

    Advice to Management

Decide what you want your business to be and build your team around it. Most people want to be a part of it but are tired of the sudden direction changes and last minute ultimatums.
