    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Cooper Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Divisional business unit that is part of a larger organization. If you are young and willing to relocate you could do OK. Eight separate business units so you have endless options for your career path.

    Cons

After spending 5 wonderful years at a small, well-run company in Tualatin, OR, the company was acquired by Cooper Bussmann. Three years later my position was eliminated as part of an on-going downsizing operation to reduce costs. Moving large portions of production to Mexico and China in an attempt to lower manufacturing costs sealed the fate of many co-workers. Needless to say moral declined and much of the braintrust within engineering left on their own.

    Advice to Management

If a company can be profitable for over 45 years without a single layoff how is it that layoffs are necessary to maintain profits once you acquire it?
