I have been working at Corinthian Colleges full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great health benefits and decent pay. Blessed to work with people that truly care about the students and go out of their way to assist them in any way they can. Example, if co workers know of a student that is hungry, we give them our food and try to find resources to assist them.

    Cons

Corrupt corporate management, there is no work life balance what so ever, and no pay raises in 3 years. Corporate laying off people by the masses yet every year they have a big party called Parthenon that costs millions of dollars while they are destroying peoples lives by their callus disregard for the worker bees at the campus level. Unethical and uncaring.

    Advice to Management

Walk the walk and talk the talk. Retain your valued employees and open your eyes to the destruction you cause when you lay off key people at the campuses. Spend 1 week doing someone else's job at a campus to understand the impact you have on people's lives when you lay them off. Think about the worker bees who are now doing 4-5 people's jobs and see how horribly they are treated. Come and see the reality of the situation you caused and how it affects our students.

    Pros

Though benefits are based with California, they are great, working your way up in the company through hard work and great work performance is quick.

    Cons

Working long hours can be an issue at times, overtime is given without overtime hour rates, which is decided through corporate, your job is closely monitored if you are not meeting the qualifications of the company policies, depending on the department you are working in, you take an assessment each quarter and your raise is determined by that a long with your supervisors review. At times, training is on the go, there's not always enough time to train separately and training is mainly through conference calls or computer (which is not good for hands on learners). One position can be overwhelming if there is no help especially if a department is on a hiring freeze.

    Advice to Management

Please be open to hearing what can improve your team or what your team feel is negative with the company. Most of the time people felt they were not being taken seriously when there were complaints. Stay positive and encourage team. Positive feedback is always a plus, please do not discuss just negative feedback. Team members would like to know what you appreciate compared to what complaints you may have with one's work ethics. Be a follower if you expect your team to follow. Do not show favoritism. Communication is key!
