I worked at Cornell University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great campus, smart people, a lot of research flexibility and ways to collaborate. The stipends are generous. As with any PhD program selecting the right mentor/laboratory is key.

    Cons

The winter is awful. Expect tons of snow and very cold temperatures for a solid 5+ months per year. It can be very depressing. Ithaca is extremely small and isolated. Getting in and out is not trivial and especially difficult in the wintertime. Parking on campus is very expensive.
