I have been working at Covance full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

They take people who don't have any experience working in insurance and give them a chance to learn something new.

You don't have to have a college degree to become a Supervisor.

Great benefits package.

Nice gym in the San Diego site.

Generous PTO

Cons

You will be micromanaged.

Low pay.

The call center is divided by teams and some teams require more "work" than others. Which means, you can make the same pay as soandso even though he is taking 2 calls a day and doing nothing else while you're chasing down insurance companies, doctors offices, patients, taking 20+ calls a day by angry patients... basically stressed every minute of every hour.

For people who are happy doing what they do everyday and who do not want to advance, you will find yourself doing things you dont want to do anyways because you have to make new goals for yourself every year and meet them if you want to get a better bonus or raise.

You will be asked if you'd like to take on an assignment and if you object, they find a way to make you do it anyways BECAUSE THEY ALREADY TOLD THEIR OWN SUPERVISOR THEY WERE GOING TO GET YOU TO DO IT.

Advice to Management

Don't overwork your agents. You are losing valuable people because you keep making promises to clients that you cannot keep. You don't think about the people doing all the work while you make your billions. Set realistic goals before launching another program,make sure you're properly staffed, realize that sometimes you need to tell your client NO. Realize that agents are stressed to the max, crying, seeing therapists because of the level of stress they are under on a daily basis.

Stop promoting idiots who don't deserve it or who have affairs with their direct reports.

Pay more! YOU MAKE BILLIONS.

    Pros

    Appropriate compensation for experience, decent benefits including 401k, health insurance, PTO, great line manager who actually listens & actually encourages you to push yourself to become more than you thought you could be.

    Cons

    Sometimes the project is greater than the project manager who then starts to micromanage due to their insecurities with the project.

    Advice to Management

    Nothing to say at this time due to short time of employment.

    Pros

    There is plenty of room for growth. Very Diverse. People are very friendly. Company has a very good work from home policy. Company has good core values but are they practiced?

    Cons

    Upper management could be so much better. It is like the blind leading the blind at times. In the department I work in there aren't any processes or procedures. This is a company of nepotism. Pay is not good but employees that have been there for a number of years thinks the pay is great.

    Advice to Management

    Company needs to hire sound experienced managers. Turnover rate is too high. They are listed with the Dept. of Workforce Development as one of states top employers. It is not because of growth it is due to the high turnover rate.
