I have been working at Cox Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Privately held so decisions are more strategic, than driven by quarterly Wall Street expectations.
Investment in employees - training, development, compensation plans.
They take care of employees in good times and in bad.
Good benefit - 401(K) with match and fully company paid pension!!

Cons

Growing plans as competition increases and we look to determine best way to navigate through change.

Advice to Management

Remember - you have very talented people in the field - not all the ideas need to come from corporate. Collaboration is critical!

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable company, good benefits, great locations

    Cons

They no longer hire or promote from within, company is less focused on customer service and more focused on the making more $$$$$. Lots of rate increases, not as many product improvements. The rate increases are definitely not going into pay rates; raises and bonuses have been dismal the last couple of years. Travel and discrtionary spending has been cut to almost $0.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring consultants who tell you to raise the rates! Ask your employees how to fix the issues and LISTEN to them! Get back to taking care of your customers and treating them well, and the $$ will come.
