I have been working at Credit Suisse full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Supportive environment filled with good people, the firm also provides opportunities to improve skills.
Great culture with focus on the quality of work, good collegial atmosphere

Cons

The IT systems are a joke. Expect to do plenty of manual work to compensate for the lack of tools available.
Upper Management always shifting around, with no clearly defined strategy at times.

Advice to Management

They should really be able to show a clear vision for the businesses and demonstrate the commitment to spend money on systems when need be. The inability to follow through on these things can be demoralizing

I worked at Credit Suisse full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Possible global network and opportunities in a well established company. Pockets of talent exist in most centres and one could say that improvement is possible.

    Cons

Culture gone wrong over time with too many old hands left in the company which cannot be removed. No intercompany cooperation exist.

    Advice to Management

Create workgroups to eliminate inter-company cannibalism

I worked at Credit Suisse as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Open-minded culture. Great team spirit. A lot of empowerment for Interns. Given chance to freely speak to leaders and build network. Good flexibility in terms of time and locations where you work.

    Cons

Lack of opportunity to switch roles within company (maybe intra-division, but not inter-division). Interns not allowed to choose which department to go to

    Advice to Management

The encouragement and enthusiasm shown when dealing with interns be replicated for all staff and provide equal opportunity for all staff. Allow for interns to choose which departments to go to and then interview with the direct manager.
