I have been working at Crytek full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good office and equipment, free heath insurance, free snaks, moderate bonuses, relocation help, free temporary apartment, regular parties and events, free travels to conferences.

Cons

Not paid, forced overtimes.
Too many managers, that unable to make decisions and unwilling to take responsibility.
Messed up code base.
Old school, autocratic leads, for instance some of them think that unit tests are useless.
No very well paid.

I have been working at Crytek full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Extremely talented individuals across the whole studio.
    - Amazing technology.
    - Great friendships and people.
    - Fantastic leads for the most part, depending on your department.
    - Minimum overtime and policy of no weekend working.
    - One of the better places to work in the UK.
    - Personal learning development budget is fantastic for taking classes and developing yourself.

    Cons

    - Lack of creative visionary to take the studio forward and pull the team together.
    - Games directed with copycat ideas while ignoring the creativity of the team and even side lining leads.
    - Salary is bellow average in comparison to other offers in UK.
    - Corporate and political underlining with frustrating structures and procedures. Undermining one of the core values of Crytek, 'trust' and 'collaboration'.

    Advice to Management

The studio is a good place to work but can become frustrating on a day to day basis when the team doesn't have confidence in the studios direction.

The studio needs a creative director to drive the team forward and unlock the potential within. Empower the employees more while remaining focused on the core values of the project. Listen and 'trust' your employees.

Do more for the team as a whole. Organise more activity's and team building. It often feels like the studio can be 'cheap' and not going above and beyond to reward all the hard work being done. Any rewards that are given often come with a corporate underlining and procedure.

I have been working at Crytek full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible hours, hardly any crunch time outside E3 demos and big events.
    A very good R&D dept.

    Cons

Some managers that don't seem to know how things are made nowadays. They also are involved too much into game design decisions sometimes which leads to wasted milestones when they realize their input was pretty bad.

    Advice to Management

Leave more freedom to your designers
