I have been working at Cummins full-time (More than a year)

Pros

cyclic growing company...has not figured out how to get out of cycles, but trying

Cons

chaos in trying to do too many things at once...lots of "systems"...need to focus on getting things done that really matter,....too many meetings

Advice to Management

focus on the important stuff...

I have been working at Cummins as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

One of the worst places I have ever worked as a contractor. Kelley Services reps. are the worst ever that i have worked for. so there are no pros.

    Cons

Treatment towards you is very disrespectful as a contingent, treated like a 2nd class citizen by most people there. The old timers like 30 to 40 years with co. cant wait to get out as its too political for them now and knew what a good company was like to work for back in the day.

    Advice to Management

Treat your contingents better as we are your cornerstone, without our cheep labor you would not make it. As a Co. you talk the talk but don't walk the walk from your safety right down to your treatment of customers.

I have been working at Cummins full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Manager recognizes good work
Company has a "growth state of mind" which means leadership roles often open up
Decent salary for the location (Columbus, IN)
Lots of benefits and company discount

    Cons

Cummins is a mechanical company. As someone who works on software, the company has very primitive methods and is still learning. This really slows down your work and can be a nuisance.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing, I appreciate the monthly meetings and enjoy learning about the bigger picture. My manager was new to his role when I came on so a lot of the things I needed were not ready. For some programs I had to wait a month.
