I worked at Cummins as a contractor

    Pros

Good benefit package with pension, Average salary in the market, Good start company for new graduate

    Cons

    1. Bad management. So many politics in almost every department. Projects and new ideas not based on the business/marketing requirements instead of who is the person stand back with you.
    2. Many old guys are doing nothing but waiting for retirement. They play cards after lunch in the cafetiere. You will see managers or engineers near 80 years old but still working in the company.
    3. Layoff good people just because those guys speak too much or tell the truth in the meeting.
    4. Very bad project management. No one will be responsible for the project delay so almost all projects have delays. Some project delays just because people need job security.
    5. Many stupid 6S projects. People fools each other with those stupid projects. They save tons of paper money from these 6S projects.
    6. Buildings and manufacture facility is really old like 80s.

    Advice to Management

    1. Get those old guys out and make the company more efficient.
    2. No politics allowed in the project management.
    3. Get less MBAs. They really do less than experienced engineers.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Its pretty easy to negotiate your base salary, you can also get a sign on bonus pretty easy, just ask for it!

    Cons

Not a very inclusive environment. Performance Reviews are a joke within this Forced Ranking approach. If you are not liked you better start looking for a new job asap!

    Advice to Management

Diversity training and Inclusion training should be required of all employees within the first two weeks of being hired. All minorities should be paired with a Mentor to help them succeed in cummins rigid non inclusive environment.
