Pros

Good Salary. Management will help employees/contractors apply skills learned either from previous jobs or college courses to the job/task at hand.

Cons

Lots of Turnover. If you come in as a contractor be prepared to stay in contractor status for a WHILE!

Advice to Management

Please work on bringing contractors into direct hire status sooner than later.

I worked at DCP Midstream LP full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company to start at to get a foothold into the Oil & Gas industry. There are many very experienced and tenured employees that can be open and share industry/company knowledge. Incentives are not based on poor employee review system.

    Cons

No management training takes place, generally only a select few employees get promoted or are even promised a promotion. Generally a department transfer is given as the only option which results in starting from zero and requiring "lots of feathers in your cap" to even begin the conversation. Actual work output quality is irrelevant to reviews.

Many of the talented people that get brought in leave the company due to over-promising, under-delivering management style. Typically promotions only occur at the Director level, managers and below have little to no chance of receiving a promotion without moving to Midland or Houston.

    Advice to Management

There was much discussion about company turnover being high compared to the rest of the industry, my suggestion is to evaluate who are good managers that effectively allow their direct reports to succeed.

I worked at DCP Midstream LP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fair pay, vacation, and benefits. Mostly friendly people. Comfortable place to be. Stable industry. If you just need a stable paycheck, this place will provide it.

    Cons

Management does not listen to staff. Leadership talks well, doesn't live up to the talk. Very clear "in" group who gets all promotions at the corporate level.

    Advice to Management

Respect everyone. Let people grow to their own capacity, not just their current job description.
