Pros

Not too many pros for the footwear department. I guess the best one would be the discount.

Cons

Footwear department is HARD on a person. Constantly running up and down stairs and climbing shelves. Saturdays are horrendous, there is no way to serve all the customers in a timely manner which means you are run ragged and the customers are still upset when they leave.

Advice to Management

While I worked there, there were certain employees who were given preference over others as to their work week. Which left other employees working nights and weekends EVERY WEEK. Not very fair to those of us that have families.

    Pros

Decent discounts on "fun" sporting good products, some repeat customers that are enjoyable to interact with, bonuses are based on your particular store's sales so there's incentive to push the associates to do well.

    Cons

The hours aren't good. The company sets expectations on metrics and when you achieve your goals they are never satisfied, so they simply up the goal or ask why you aren't doing as well as the top performer in your area.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Performance oriented, they are always striving to be better than not just the competition, but themselves as well. Most driven company I have ever worked for. Focused on success. The Executive level was highly accomplished and capable.

    Cons

Mid and entry level executive management such as District Managers and RVP seem to be in fear for their jobs at all times. I saw a great deal of turnover at this level, and most in these positions seemed to act out of fear instead of driving the business properly. The frantic pace coupled with perfect execution leads to chaos at times focused on trivial things as opposed to customers and business. Drop everything tasks directing you to move widget X two spots to the left on the gondola would require sign offs to 3 different people, and 7 Emails regarding the movement of a single widget. Most were capable of running their business with less interference, which would have led to higher service and sales figures.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the big picture, leave the minutia alone. The company is driven, and their success is clear. As they transition to best in class practices across the board there will be pain, but I believe they will be a strong player for years to come
