I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Learned to sell and work with customers.

    Cons

Gets redundant, don't need to really challenge your mind too much.

    Advice to Management

More communication and involvement between corporate and the store managers about what inventory the store needs. Seems to come too much from corporate, new orders were irrelevant too often.

I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I was lucky in my store to have an excellent store manager who should have gone on to be a district manager... instead they decided he made too much money for their payroll and found reason to terminate him.

    Cons

Everything. As a hardlines manager I did my best to take care of my employees but its difficult when upper management makes poor strategic decision after poor strategic decision. There were times around holidays where we could have added 5 hours of payroll and it would have yielded an additional $5,000 in sales easily. The customers were willing to pay, just needed someone to take their money. Instead, they decided to cut people's hours and the people left got to deal with angry (rightfully so) customers who left without making a purchase because they grew tired of waiting.

    Advice to Management

Retire. For the sake of the future of the company, retire.
