I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (Less than a year)

Pros

- You get to deal with different people on a daily basis.
- If you enjoy sports, you will enjoy this job.
- Not entirely stressful

Cons

- Constant change in procedures
- Sport's seasons change rapidly, so you're always building and taking down different department specialties
- Under-staffed at most locations
- Poor forms of communications between stores.

Advice to Management

Consider developing a system that can create for easy communication between stores to improve customer satisfaction.

    I worked at DICK'S Sporting Goods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Part timers get good hours if you are a hard worker (30+). Great employee discount. It's a very determined customer based business, managers care more about a happy customer then clean floor. Very easy register system, easy to learn and easier to use. Every department gets an opener and closer.

    Cons

    Overpriced merchandise, and you can't use your discount on sale merchandise. Peak sale hours are always understaffed. Gondos and tables need to be stocked to perfection because there are audits frequently. There are about 5 register prompts to get customers to get a credit card/buy a warranty. Customers get easily annoyed with this. Managers place a lot of pressure on cashiers for scorecard percentage, credit cards, warranties, etc and always want you to upsell.

    Advice to Management

    Customers hate getting asked so many sales prompts and are easily irritated with the push for cards and warranties.
