I worked at DIRECTV full-time (More than a year)

Pros

There is good compensation and benefits on paper. The reality is the hours are insane more than 70 hours a week are required. There is no overtime pay, they tell you if you turn in a time sheet that shows more than 40 hours you will be written up and eventually fired. The management is extremely disorganized. Things were on the way to improving but I'd be surprised if there is any significant improvement without major management changes. All this being said, from the people I've met it seems clear that it is not like this in other shops.

Cons

The catty nature of the management (it's not all of them, but i would say most)... The Lack of overtime pay. They say it's piece rate, but the piece rate it too low with out the hourly cushion. Start at 6 am with the latest appointment potentially starting at 8pm six days a week? Pay me overtime I deserve it.

Advice to Management

Get it together and stop asking techs to work without pay.

I worked at DIRECTV full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Compensation is very competitive, and the free satellite TV is a great perk that normally costs upwards of $80 each month.

    Cons

For me the work-life balance was untenable, because I was on call all the time.
