Pros

They will take anyone who can read, write and has a pulse.
Long time employees are very dedicated and good at their job.
If you are willing to stick it out for a few years you can make decent pay even with low education.

Cons

They will take anyone who can read, write and has a pulse.
The company is very rigid yet expects their employees to be highly flexible.
There is not enough of an incentive to keep quality people there more than a few months. Bottom line is that if you are quality, can reason and solve problems you will do well but keep looking. Until they roll out a plan to give incentive to those quality individuals they will keep leaving as soon as something better is available.

Advice to Management

Stop moving jobs overseas.

I have been working at DISH full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Dish is one of the better paying jobs in the area, in reality one of the few jobs in the area considering the economy. When you luck out and you get the rare manager who isn’t a sociopath and is open to ideas and will let you work, the job can be fun and somewhat rewarding. The 401K match is nice, up to $1500 per year, so this is something worth taking advantage of.

    Cons

This is where many things can be said unfortunately. I hate to piggyback on what so many others have said, but there's a truly toxic environment in the workplace concerning dealings with manager positions and above. The coaches really try to make things better for their agents, but managers will assign time consuming and meaningless tasks that take away from time that could be spent developing your team and keep you in the building 50 or more hours in a week. The approach is very much “the wild west”, and the most successful managers are the ones who are the most aggressive and live only by the rules of “return on investment”. They don’t care about the details of your life, and the work life balance that is so important in many of the highly rated jobs on here is complete disregarded. If you question their decisions, suddenly you are not the right fit for the position, and they create flaws in your work so they can “talent plan” you out the door. If you come off as negative, you'll definitely earn a target on your back, and it's impossible to shake or recover. This makes coaches and their agents work nervously, which in turn makes us provide bad customer service. Recently based on the reviews here, a company wide survey was launched to get employee feedback on how to improve the business, and all the things people complain about on this site have gotten worse. If you work in specialty departments away from the production floor, that's where you deal w/ true sociopaths. Specialty departments are overlooked in company incentives, take worse schedules, and are told to suck it up because you “could be taking phone calls”. Managers in these departments are micromanaging, don’t give credit for the work you do, and you'll never hear a word of recognition from them.

    Advice to Management

I think it's tough because the environment is so toxic from the management level and above. How do you improve a person who is arrogant and thinks they are right all the time, and everyone else is the problem? No matter how many surveys or questionnaires you offer, if you never change management and hold them accountable for caring only about numbers and the bottom line, then employees will continue to express their frustration here because they feel helpless at work. Look into specialty departments and see what these managers are doing. Top dogs. please listen.

I worked at DISH full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Other employees at the corporate office are very smart people with a lot of drive. Salary is average for most positions.

    Cons

Managers are awful. Hostile work environment. High metrics that are impossible to reach. Most employees are unhappy there.

    Advice to Management

Change the way you run your company. You are scaring or getting rid of amazing talent.
