I worked at DTCC full-time (More than a year)

Pros

-Decent salary
-Respected in financial services industry
-Work-life balance in many departments isn't bad

Cons

-Technology implementation changes are very slow
-Many departments that are similiar don't work together
-Some critical people in key technology roles are overworked due to cost cutting measures
-Sometimes have to email people many times to get them to do something.
-Some people that have been with the company for 10+ years particularly in technology related roles are basically tenured but no longer add value to the company. This is part of the reason change is so slow and departments often don't work together as they should.

Advice to Management

- Change the DTCC culture. Make DTCC a younger more efficient company
- Hire more technology support staff
- Get rid of people with the company for a long period of time who don't add value

    Pros

    The company has good Pay and benefits(discontinued the pention plan)

    Cons

    Will only deal with people senior mgmt has brought into the company. Does not understand the concept o a budget.

    Advice to Management

    Do not discount the people who made the company what it is

    Pros

    Good pay and benefits, stable company

    Cons

    Career mobility feels non-existent for Tampa employees
    Horrible technology -most systems from 70s and 80s, new systems do not work well
    Large number of old timers w 30+ years at DTCC refuse to except change and are inefficient
    Departments work in silos
    Management does not know how to manage resources- some have too much work while other surf the web and chat on instant message all day

    Advice to Management

    Management needs to change the culture and DTCC. Old timers have too much influence in numbers and refuse to change their ways. Too many employees are stale. Systems are stale and processes are stale. Staff needs to be rotated. Managers need to be rotated. Management needs to breakdown the silos. Employees need more career opportunities. Employee turnover among the younger generation is very high in Tampa while old timers coast to retirement.
