I have been working at Darling International full-time

    Pros

    Some freedom
    Very good co workers
    A lot of responsibility
    Rewarding if job done well
    Good health insurance
    Some customers are very pleasant
    Stability

    Cons

    Excessive change
Learned 4-5 new sales processes in about a year
Freedom isn't real there due to incredibly excessive micromanaging.
Very large disconnect between senior leadership and account managers.
Antiquated process for ordering indoor equipment.
Virtually zero interest in developing employees for long term success.
Asked to juggle way too many hats.
Depending on your location, ops can be your best friend or your worst nightmare.
Company's long term vision doesn't seem sustainable
Ops has no respect for your time, efforts, or accomplishments.
Lucky to get a 1-2% raise / year
    Bonus system is arbitrarily determined.
    No continual training or development

    Advice to Management

Make the equipment ordering process more streamlined. Cut the lines of communication in ordering equipment so there is less of a chance of someone messing something up. Pay your account managers more, you can afford it. Have senior management ride along with account managers more so they will have a better idea of everything we really go through on a day to day basis. Back off the micromanaging practices. Trust that your employees know what they're doing without constant intervention. Don't try to inspire employees through fear of getting written up and coercion. Reward and acknowledge success and a job well done.
