I have been working at David Evans and Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Exposure to a variety of exciting projects with high potential. Access to smart engineers and designers in multiple disciplines. Plenty of work. Most people are pleasant to work with. Access to corporate resources and support for IT, HR, and administration and great to have, good people there. Large company that gives you access to industry standard tools and technology. Lots of potential to learn these tools, but on your own time and dollar.

    Cons

Communication style between Managers and Employees is not great, one dimensional. Poor communication in general across all levels of office and hierarchy. Managers are afforded no time to mentor and teach - it is not discouraged but many other pressures on them to perform and deliver. Difficult time delegating. Not much trust or freedom in the professional environment. Managers highly focused on meeting budgets, profitability, and utilization, often seemed overloaded. A lot of longtime employees that are here to punch the clock. Very defined hierarchy to a fault that tends to encourage pushing blame. Don't really live up to highly touted company values and ideology.

    Advice to Management

Adapt with and listen to your employees. Spend less micromanaging details. Welcome questions. Take time to invest in the longer-term payoff in workflows. Encourage younger team members to participate in marketing and other business units. Encourage honesty and transparency. Prioritize internal dynamics as much as you focus on client needs, always prioritizing the client's needs is diminishing the value of your team members and the work they are reasonably capable of.
