Pros

DaySpring is made up of great people who have a great heart. They are struggling financially at this point so the future is uncertain with their niche market.

Cons

The parent company Hallmark Cards is not setting them up for success.

    Pros

Great leadership from the top down. A company with a heart for it's employees. A fair salary and great benefits.

    Cons

The company is dealing with a downturn in the industry and it's unfortunate that jobs are not as secure there as has been in the past.

I worked at DaySpring Cards full-time

    Pros

Well... the PTO is great, and there are some nice people working there. Employee sales and discounts were also a plus.

    Cons

Unpredictable work schedules. Cliques were awful. Temp workers were sometimes unnecessarily mistreated by these cliques. Often felt a lot more like high school than a workplace full of "Christian" adults. Management didn't like dealing with major issues that affected productivity. They also tended to get way too close to some of their subordinates and ultimately played favorites. There existed an "us against them" mentality not only between the creative and distribution departments, but within specific teams even. Made for a hostile environment at times. Employee suggestions are also asked for but rarely implemented or even given a chance. Little room for advancement unless you make friends with the right people.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your gossipy, sneaky, well-known and frequently reported trouble makers who are often the common denominator in many conflicts and you'll stop losing good employees and morale would be higher for those who remain. It's killing your productivity numbers. Output is greater when people look forward to coming to work. And don't ask for your employees' input if you are only going to ignore it every time it's offered.
