I worked at Dean Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Close to home, flexible schedule. Manager very understanding with regards to family and health issues. Manager also expressed appreciation for hard work often. One of the nicest guys I had the privilege of working with.

Cons

Old rundown facility (old mobile home turned into an office). Often had to deal with leaking roofs when it rained, loads of dirt when it was windy, furniture was old and falling apart. Office space was cramped as there was not sufficient storage for office and restroom supplies.

I worked at Dean Foods as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Brand name products, decent pay, nice corporate office, free parking, free MILK, smart people, good employee events and communication. Very nice CIO with a detailed vision.

    Cons

IT is challenged by the task of integrating all the different systems used by the companies acquired over the years. Some managers are good, but others are awful. Mine was a micro-manager who rewarded those who sucked up to him and mistreated those who excelled or could excel. CIO is hamstrung by the executive team. Also, "contractors" are just their way to hire and fire more easily.

    Advice to Management

Invest in IT so that the systems that support the entire business will actually work. Don't wait 12-18 months to make decisions.
