I have been working at Defense Engineering full-time

    Pros

    $100 a month for transportation/ garage.
    Benefits health, dental and vision

    Cons

No oversight. Company fills requirements for subcontracts and practically forgets about employees once that project begins. Company has no interest in employee welfare or conduct.
Company is deceitful, talks about how Employees are "Associates" and the key to overall success but leaves them for the wolves. Contractors are expendable, not very likely for anyone to gain stable employment.

    Advice to Management

Show interest in employees, be brutally honest about contract shortage and keep to your word.

I worked at Defense Engineering full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - There's a small cadre of competent engineers and managers on staff
    - Front office staff does appear to be helpful when called upon
    - Appears to be a sincere effort to deliver a quality product

    Cons

    - Extremely anemic attitude towards communication across entire company
    - Planning to move forward is only known to a few people vice the entire employee base
    - Unfortunate company classification transition occurring at the same time as a sponsor's transition

    Advice to Management

I get that the past few months have been nothing short of tumultuous, from trying to rectify personnel issues to the change in the company's status from a SDVOB to a large scale contractor to even having issues with obtaining new work. Believe me, I get it. The problem is that there needs to be honesty between the front office and the employees. Much of the stuff I've been seeing recently has been more placating in nature than giving us a clear path to where we want to go and what we want to be.

Look, we get things are bad. That's the nature of this business. If you truly want to be considered as one of the big firms, then you need to act like it. Playing things close to the vest when there is so much uncertainty is going to affect not only your bottom line, but also the morale of the people who work for you.
