I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Though I do feel small, I can see a direct correlation between my contribution and to the overarching strategy of the company.
     - Variety of different types of work that you could get involved in depending on the department you work and the partners that you work alongside with.
     - Provide the opportunity for employee to voice their dis/satisfaction through an internal survey.

    Cons

    - Like other large corporations you end find yourself in a small cog in a large organization. There are a lot of moving parts and departments and you may find yourself at risk getting lost in the high-level goals.
     - Pay is pretty much just below average in comparison with other equivalent companies.
     - Bureaucracy can be a nightmare at times. Your day-to-day minutiae of your work will get lost in the bigger objectives of the organization.
     - Sometimes the internal employee survey falls on deaf ears.

    Advice to Management

The company seems to be undergoing an identify crises... trying to find what it can or should be in this pseudo post-PC era. Target a vision and ensure your employees are all delivering to that visioin and not getting distracted with other "innovative" noise that may be on the horizon.

I have been working at Dell as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Most of employees I know and have been working with them until DSFG took over the contract. This is one of the biggest contract they won 290 mil. The place is located next to White Flint, MD, and dub as one of the "Best Federal Agency to work for".. NRC

    nice drive
Come in for the clearance, work for 2 months and start looking

    Cons

    PURE PROFIT DRIVEN.

Communication is horrible, the company management, internal management do not respond to employees. You can call them, send an e-mail, no response. At the work site, If you need to speak with management there is a chain that has to be followed, if you break it you are frowned upon. Management does not respond to repeated e-mail seeking help, on projects. The current management in place is not up to the task, and are very unaware of the environment, and culture of the users. Our immediate management have NO technical skills and yet they are managing a team of technicians and engineers. We do not have enough staff causing failure SLA. This is a sinking ship.

If you come as a "only allowed partner" the jobs are only reserved for certain companies, you can not convert over to the main company. Also the partner pay much much less, and life is also bad with them.

You get your normal benefits... BTW the stock sucks.
vacation 80 use it or loose it
sick leave 80 use it or loose it.

Not a good place to work.

    Advice to Management

Open your mind, and speak to the employees without making threats. If you want to this contract to continue, you NEED to address internal problems NOW! because your entire team is looking, and they ARE LEAVING!... not going, not maybe, not will..BUT ARE LEAVING
