I worked at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great entry-level salary, and opportunity for promotion if you're careful about directing your own internal career progression.

Cons

The more your target compensation increases, the harder it becomes to consistently attain quota. Hard to know which are the right moves and get the timing right.

Felt very much like just another cog in the corporate machine. People get lost in the equation.

Advice to Management

Meritocracy should not be just about who landed a lucky big deal this quarter. Please make some effort to recognize consistent performers and high NPS scores. They are really more critical to Dell's long-term success.

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Dell company, so we have cool perks and discounts. Awesome Gym!

    Cons

MANAGEMENT! What kind of manager gets into a fist fight with his supervisors on company time? The Sr. Manager of Sales! He's had ton's of run in's with HR, but they just turn their heads, while he runs around the office like a frat kid yelling in your phone to sell. Definitely a poster child for a used car salesman. How this guys has been able to hold a job, is something that crosses everyone's mind!

    Advice to Management

Get rid of that guy! Let Dell Management take over and retire the old VP's (now Directors) from continuously driving people out the door, because their noses are so far up "in the cloud".

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Have had several managers at Dell, and with the short exception of one (only lasted a month), all have been excellent.

    Cons

Current Sales Leadership (Felice) seems over their head. First time I've ever heard a salesforce blamed on an open investor's conference call. By all accounts an effective manager prior to this role, but certainly no Paul Bell.

    Advice to Management

Transition Felice back into a more tactical role.
