I worked at Dell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Dell is one of the major PC vendors. They are in to technology and making money from technology. It is a good company if you want to work for a hardware company that is one of the major players in the industry. It is fast paced and they do pay well.

    Cons

Dell is stressful. Promotions are extremely rare. They say that Dell implements a meritocracy. If you wish to do well, you need to appear to be driven and work long hours. You may get decent bonuses if you are not in the top tier, but you'll never get promotions. It is extremely difficult to have your reputation rise once management tags what level of worker you are.

    Advice to Management

    Learn to take risks.

  2. "Originally working at Dell was a dream job, but new corporate directors turned Dell into another money-grabbing circus."

I worked at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits were great. Esprit de Corps in IT were prevalent. Non-Micro managers. First 6 years were great.

    Cons

New VPs/Directors broadcast it was a dog eat dog world, and we didn't need to be afraid of stepping on others toes to get to the top. Family atmosphere was gone.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees. Don't be eager to line pockets; invest in your employees CE.
