I worked at Dell full-time

Pros

- Dell is investing a lot in training technical support staff for enterprise products.
- Many opportunities for promotion: moving up to management positions can go fairly quickly if you perform well.
- Dynamic, project- based working environment. More like a beehive, where movement across verticals is promoted.
- Less administrative boundaries and burdens than most companies.
- Nice and professional people to work with.
- Clear mission

Cons

- Strong friend & family culture in Dell Cherrywood ( check who's affiliated to whom).

Advice to Management

More support and attention for employees when dealing with pressure from work, that human aspect is a bit missing.

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Brand Name and laptops. Good opportunities are available if you know buttering and can influence the manager.

    Cons

People do a lot of politics with the new team members and, most of the peoples those are there from past 6-7 years don't concentrate on their work and keep getting new opportunities just based on their relations with the managers.
Most of the managers are not actually managers they think themselves as a CEO and they don’t know how to behave with team members. I think most of the managers need one personal assistant to manage their work and to remind them about their duties. That’s how the promotions and rating are getting in Dell India.

    Advice to Management

One bottom line is that a good technical person never does buttering and he just concentrate on his work and the guys doesn’t know how to do their job, they roam around their boss. So this is the responsibility of the manager to identify and differentiate between these two. Mid management also need to learn same skills, don’t give promotions to their favorite peoples.

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Big company, opportunities great if you are a B player

    Cons

Celebrates the B employees. Way too much bureaucracy and there are way too many decision makers. The direction is to BEAT HP and there is no direction or plan on how to do that. Just get up in the morning and look in the mirror and tell yourself to do it. Goofy.
I hear Canadian benefits are terrible.

    Advice to Management

Let people do their jobs and get out of the way
