Pros

The best reason to work for Dell is the amount of freedoms provided to the employees. The work conditions are more relaxed then others. It used to have a positive culture (not the case anymore). It is a fast moving company with little focus on the micro management and more on helping the employees feel empowered. Everything within the company is transparent, you can see the position of anyone you talk to in an instant. The culture is also relaxed, the managers look like the employees and you cannot tell the difference. An equal workplace that does not focus on status.

Cons

company changes quickly, profit drives the business, easily outsourced and pro-outsourcing.

Advice to Management

Dell Canada needs better moral, where are the leaders?

    Pros

Dell looks good on your CV
Dell is thought of highly in the IT industry

    Cons

Removing all the reasons to work at Dell.
SCP (Sales compensation Plan) is completely unfair, unles you achieve 90% your commission is decelerated.
    Morale could not be worse
Staff have lost many of the compensation benefits in their package (eg Dell cancelled the employee share purchase program ESPP)

    Advice to Management

Employers are very important to an organisation also, management seem to only worry about finance and Opexs and shareholders.

    Pros

    Exposure to latest hardware technology

    Cons

For a software professional there is not much long term opportunity. Bread and butter is hardware product and most of it is commodity off the shelf.

    Advice to Management

Too much focus on quality issues and undercutting price compared to competition. Employees don't have time to work on innovative ideas.
