I worked at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great salary and benefits, work life balance, get to work with cool tech. Job is safe and awesome IFF you get to work on strategic products that Michael wants.

Cons

Lack or forward thinking. Chasing the "latest and greatest buzzword tech". Constantly rearranging departments and laying people off, then turning around and rehiring people.

Advice to Management

Plan ahead more than 1 year. Killing off product lines, then resurrecting them 6 month later shows lack of foresight.

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The Company pays well and the benefits are good. Yearly bonuses are offered . Vast opportunities with the acquisition of many new software companies. The Brand name is respected industry wide.

    Cons

Being a Large company one can be unnoticed except within your own dept if the manager you report too is not proactive with making his teams accomplishments known. Constant justification with mostly denial for HW needed to perform daily duties from a company that owns HW. Lower managers are too afraid to tell upper management thoughts and suggestions from their teams. Salary raises are non existent even with a higher then average yearly review.

    Advice to Management

Improve your new remote employee onboarding process, Offer more training options to your remote employees, Offer easier transition methods into other departments of qualifications are met.

    Pros

Work life balance, great employee resource groups, WFH occasionally (Manager dependent) and some ambiguity.

    Cons

Massive company, slow in change, executive management team didn't seem to be congruent on business strategy.

    Advice to Management

Become congruent in the strategy and get your teams excited.
