    Unrealistic Expectations

    Pros

The office space and amenities are honestly amazing. Dell has an amazing campus and really tries to make it a place where you want to be and hangout. The food, gym, ping pong rooms, etc were a great perk.

    Cons

Quotas during Covid are and were unreasonable. It didn’t matter that millions lost jobs and got laid off. You better hit that quota. It didn't matter that the last thing people wanted was a new computer or monitors because they didn’t have money to spend, you better stay on the phone and run through your pitch and sell them something. Make sure to make it awkward and honestly offensive to the customer when you keep pushing them to purchase more when they have a strict budget. You honestly won’t have time to think because there will be a manager or another employee listening to every word you speak since they monitor your line, and making sure that you hit every point on your script. And lastly and the most frustrating part was the unbelievable amount of micromanaging. There are multiple sections of the sales department and you have a quota with all of them, such as software and peripherals, monitors, financial services, server quotes, talk time. Everything you do is monitored. If you have a rough day don’t worry because you will have 5 different people telling you about it. Out of all of the people that I knew on the sales floor, all but one have either quit or been let go because of what’s stated above.

Great company as a whole but be in Charge of Your Career

    Pros

The culture and benefits are on point. I feel valued and feel that what I do is important. There are so many ways that they invest in their people; Parental leave for both mom and dad, Tuition assistance, 3 weeks vacation starting out, certification can be reimbursed, and there has been a big push to help with career advancement. There are many incentives and opportunities for continued education and self growth.

    Cons

It takes more than good performance to get promoted. Be ready to change roles and move around the company to advance your career. Work-life balance is talked about and pushed but early morning meetings, late-night meetings, and working on the weekend still happen.
