    I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Great place to start a career, learn skills, build capabilities. They have invested heavily in their training/learning/IT infrastructure. Take advantage of it. Participate in the numerous networking activities and build a strong skill set, combined with a strong network. You'll need them!

    Cons

    As you rise to higher levels, Deloitte becomes a thoroughly difficult & unpleasant place to work. particularly if you are one level away from the Partner level (Senior Manager or equivalent). Unless, you're a member of the current leadership "clique", they will use/abuse these folks with the attitude that "that which doesn't kill you makes you stronger". They have way, way too many chiefs (partners/directors) who are out-of-date and, to be blunt, uncaring. Always looking for the next big, 7-figure deal. A lethal combination. In addition, the HR function operates in the dark ages. Not to be trusted, and severely out-of-date.

    Advice to Management

    Start managing for the long term, instead of simply looking at "who billed the most hours."
    Manage PERFORMANCE, not who is the most "POLITICALLY ASTUTE".
    Update policies, procedures to the 21st century (from the 19th!).

    Pros

    A lot of diversity in projects as well as colleagues. Lots of great experience in Strategy & Ops in Consulting

    Cons

    Not a great place for professional growth, which may have more to do with current economic climate than the firm itself.

    Advice to Management

    Provide more opportunities for growth, need a better culture of recognition and rewards
