Abosutely the best people and skills to surround yourself in the consulting industry. No place has the diverse service offerings to help our clients in so many ways. Performance review process is very thorough and straight forward. If are or are not delivering, you won't will not be surprised at year end. The firm is well positioned to take advantage of softening in the economy.

Cons

Network is crucial. Can be difficult to manufacture in a short time, so organic network building takes time. Be sure you have time. Consulting requires travel, and the expectation does not go down the more senior you become - so be prepared.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Big name on resume; Pay for CPA license; exposure to Fortune 500 companies; almost one month of paid time off

    Cons

The hours during busy season are killer; Even during the non normal busy season, which is January through March and April, you may end up working a ton of overtime. The salary and compensation package, ie benefits, perks, etc, do not match up to the hours and type of work performed. The communication of national office, with both implementing new directives and taking care of employees, is very out of touch with reality.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should do a better job of building employee morale. There should be more employee recognition, ie compensation, to the parties that do the actual bulk of the work, which are the seniors.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Deloitte is a good company to start a career and learn professional knowledge much faster than in average companies. The firm has knowledge sharing database, required trainings, and most importantly vast amount of opportunities for employees to work under real-world cases. To that extent, Deloitte is a good place to work

    Cons

Deloitte's hierarchy structure is based on a "Class" concept. People joining in the same year are called the same “class”. Due to this philosophy, no stand-out is truly encouraged. On one hand, slackers will be tossed out for sure. On the other hand, it is sorry for those who can pick up more work and do the work more efficiently than others. In other words, this is not a system that encourages out-performers. As a matter of fact, the firm expects some people to leave and become corporate leaders in the future, for the sake of business development.

    Advice to Management

Never over-estimate what leadership can do and never under-estimate what an associate can accomplish.
