Pros

Nice place to work. The teams are friendly and everyone seems to have some fun. Everyone seems to hold their own and do their work.

Cons

The structure from the standpoint of a new person is a little bit confusing. There are many overlaps in jobs it seems.

Advice to Management

Keep doing good work. It will be exciting to see how Deltak continues to grow in the future. Expect big things from this company

    Pros

There are a few people who really know their stuff - and who care about each other and the students they are supposed to serve. For years, the atmosphere was much more friendly and fun. We did a lot of work, but we were given freedom over getting the work done. In the past, if the work was done, that was all that mattered. Now, there is tension everywhere and having fun is no longer allowed.

    Cons

It's all about who you know, not what you know that matters at Deltak.

The work isn't as important as who likes you. People with horribleinterpersonal skills and questionable ethics get promoted because of who their friends are. Good people are bailing because the rats are taking over - and other good people are being forced out because they are trying to do the right thing or are being assigned blame for things beyond their control. People have been punished because they try to get things done instead of playing all the games this company promotes.

People are so busy playing the political games that the students (and the schools) suffer. Every department needs more people to get the work done that is expected, and almost every employee is over-worked. Although employees who know where the bodies are buried are somehow never overworked. I know of at least three people who were very good at their jobs and who recently got fired because they tried to stand up for what's right.

Withholding knowledge is a huge source of power at this company - and Deltak leadership is not about to give up their knowledge or their power. Most managers are completely self-centered and sleezy. Employees are expected to lie to clients about their workload. The majority of middle managers / directors have questionable ethics and are bullies.

The head of Rasmussen believes in leading by an old-fashioned dictatorship. In a time when most companies are moving towards being more casual, Deltak went from casual dress to business casual dress. It is a distance learning company, but employees get in trouble if they want to work from home.

This is not a fun or positive place to work unless you enjoy being micro-managed, criticized and bullied.

    Advice to Management

Protect employees as much as you protect the managers who are in the in-crowd. Stop allowing managers to take credit for employee work. Talk to the school heads to see who really does the work. Realize that younger employees want real flexibility in their work, and a more casual work environment. Just because someone isn't sitting at their desk doesn't mean they aren't working. Get rid of the favoritism and the bullying. Figure out how to really know who is talented and who is a bully taking credit for other's work.

    Pros

Flexible work schedule, desire to do the best for the students, realistic goals, supportive co-workers and management.

    Cons

Highly structured, metrics-based goals are something you have to be able to tolerate, but necessary to monitor the companies fast growth while maintaining quality, profitability, etc.

    Advice to Management

    Faster on-boarding for new employees.
