Pros

Really nice people, family feel, great respect shown, competitive pay, superb benefits.

Cons

People who needed to move on have stayed because the company is a great one to retire from. They say they want new ideas and innovation, but they will shoot down anyone who really tries to implement needed change. There's constant re-organization in an attempt to get the structure right. Leadership has made some disappointing acquisitions in the race to find life outside of checks, before check-printing is gone completely.

Advice to Management

Give people who need to go the dignified exit they deserve, and make real leadership change. Go out and acquire the best talent and turn them loose.

    Pros

    The best reason to work at Deluxe is the people. Many of them seem to care about the business even though there is not a lot of motivating factors for them. Deluxe’s best asset is the people; to bad the company has done layoffs for the last several years.

    Cons

    Unfortunately unless you work in the finance area there seems to be no place to move to. They will talk about succession planning but no one ever moves up. Where you start is most likely where you will stay. Deluxe has also not given any pay increases since March of 2008.

    Advice to Management

    Take a hit from the shareholders and actually give employees raises. Employees hear from management what a tough economy it is and the company can not afford to give raises. Guess what? Working class families can’t afford not to have an increase. It’s a bad economy for us as well.

    Pros

    Employees are trying their best to be successful. Great intentioned individuals. Good benefits. Good time off. Good location. A lot of variety in activities and roles.

    Cons

    No strategy. Poor leadership. Favoritism is rampant from mid level management on up. Executive leaders don't have a clue of what they are doing. Managers only listen to their favorite employees or newcomers. Strategies are flavor of the month and communication is very poor on results.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to the employees. They have experience and insight.
