Current Employee - Project Coordinator in Burbank, CA

Pros

Great place to work to gain job experience
Many smart, talented and hard-working co-workers
Most often willing to purchase necessary equipment
Deluxe is a large international company, so there are many possibilities within for those who seek it out
Lots of vacation time for lifelong employees
Paternity Leave

Cons

Virtually no training provided (most learn from coworkers, but there are no formal processes in place to ensure job role is defined or understood)
Salaried employees are overworked
Most employees are underpaid
Promises for upcoming raises/promotion with no follow-through very common
High turnover rate
Women not always treated as equals by mgmt/upper mgmt
Communication from management very infrequent
Major changes often not announced until after the factor

Advice to Management

Learn to treat your employees better! You have so many smart, talented, hard-working and dedicated employees, but very few are rewarded.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Deluxe is one of the premier post-production companies in the industry. Each unit works autonomously so it can be a very good experience if you are working for a division that runs effectively.

    Cons

There is a lot of duplication of efforts. Minimal communication between the different divisions. Focus is not on individual growth.

    Advice to Management

Management should balance focus on ROI and profitability with building teams, communication, career growth, mentorship, etc. Coordination among the different divisions would go a long way.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Approves of CEO

    Pros

If you are desperate for a job.

    Cons

You get worked to death, total boys club (if you are a woman you will get even more worked to death), this company is owned by MAFCO so everything is done for them. There is not respect or appreciation for hard work. Management lacks any form of communication, they are all afraid of top management. No one has any respect for them.

    Advice to Management

I think management can do a better job. They themselves have acknowledged that but do not want to make any effort to change.
