I have been working at Demand Media full-time

    Pros

speaker series, thirsty thursday, free friday lunch, dog friendly environment and free snacks

    Cons

Non-qualified employees in management positions because of the layoffs and they have no idea what they are doing. Awful designers and managers trying to wear too many hats at the same time that has poor design taste. Too much politics and don't waste your time being around with these poor creatives. Bottom line, if you want a job, accept the offer. If not, turn your head around and look for other opportunities that are more creative and challenging.

    Pros

Pumping out hundreds of relatively short articles will make you a better writer and broaden your knowledge. The copy and section editors were generally very talented and professional. As long as you understand it's a freelance relationship, you can work from the comfort of your own couch on some great brands, with good people and for much better pay than a few years ago. It's not a 'content farm' anymore. The standard is high, and the move is towards providing quality content for their brands, so your work can conceivably reach an audience of millions.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the rebranding from Demand Media to StudioD was a big clue. The demand for work has dried up and there are rarely any opportunities, with a sudden cull of freelance writers towards the end of 2015.

    Advice to Management

The management succeeds in cultivating a community feel, even though contact is completely online.
