I have been working at Denver Public Schools full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

A lot of choices as to types of curriculum varying on schools. Implementation of Common Core State Standards.

Cons

Too much testing without full implementation of new curricula.

Advice to Management

Stay with programs longer than a few years in order to see if implementations of new curricula are working. Find a way to include anecdotal data when reviewing students' progress.

    Cons

Poor working conditions. Substandard administrators in some place. Buildings not cleaned. Classes over crowded. Work load unreasonable.

    Advice to Management

Anyone who becomes an administrator should have a minimum 15 year teaching career as a prerequisite.

I have been working at Denver Public Schools full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Innovative, inspired, hard-working people who want the best for students. Feels like senior leadership is trying to be innovative and t do what's best for kids, but gets muddled in the delivery.

    Cons

Red tape and lack of communication get very frustrating which leads to conspiracy theories at the schools. Feels like 900 Grant Street is inaccessible and doesn't care about employees.

    Advice to Management

Make decisions and stick to them. Be a bit more transparent with employees.
