Pros

Supportive of variable work styles
Connection to colleagues at other properties
Great locations
Strategic leadership
Nice benefits and compensation package
Cost conscious but not overly so
Lots of career growth potential

Cons

Tendency to understaff in certain departments (industry-wide issue)
'Gung ho' / drink-the-koolaid mentality
Pressure to travel and attend corporate events

Advice to Management

Overall, management has got it right at this company. They're supportive and positive and strategic. One suggestion would be to back off the dated mentality that sales people should be traveling, particularly if someone is meeting or exceeding their sales goal.

I worked at Destination Hotels full-time

    Pros

Exciting and dynamic environment to work in. The higher-ups really make staff feel like the operation is their own. David Dunlap is an amazing chef to work under and there are always opportunities to learn about cuisine, dining, and wine.

    Cons

The clients can be very demanding at times but M&P and the style of dining it offers is new to Richmond so, patience. The community will soon catch on to the more metropolitan feel M&P and Quirk Hotel are bringing to little Richmond.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work and good luck as you continue to identify the correct staff members for this exciting venture

I worked at Destination Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The people I worked with.

    Cons

Human Resources is the devil. They are honestly the rudest people I have ever met. You are living in a new place you would think at least they would help. Nope. The place is a joke. Being a bellman you are just chauffeuring people around. I was highly deceived on how much I would make in tips. The employee rooms are just a tiny hotel room with 3-4 people crammed onto bunk beds, no way to cook (not even a community stove) so all of your little tips money is spent on the expensive restaurants of snowmass. Just don't do it unless you're desperate.
