Pros

My store manager was brilliant. A great leader, coach, and teacher. She was a rare exception in this company. Pay was above average for a new-hire sales associate.

Cons

Hard work is not recognized by upper management. Computer systems are extremely out of date. Very high sales goals but product replenishment is very slow. Store operations are a waste of time. E.x. They ask you to ship a style back to the warehouse only to open shipment two days later and be expected to put the same style back on the sales floor EXTREME WASTE OF TIME !!!!!!! Markdowns are very tedious and take all day to process. Raises are pathetic and rarely are more than 50 cents. Don't waste your time or talent at this company. All they care about is their bottom line and have zero regard for the people that make this company successful.

Advice to Management

Show respect and thanks to all the employees that make your company a success. Those of you sitting in Philadelphia need to realize that it's not you whom makes this company successful but all the people who work in your retail stores. Show thanks for all the hard work and dedication that your employees put into making this company thrive and reward it accordingly. And for heavens sake UPDATE YOUR POS SYSTEMS. It's 2012 we should be able to check the inventory of other stores to get the desired product to our customers.

    Pros

Home office:Paid holidays, personal days, sick days, vacation time, abd ok healthinsraunce, fitness room in home office w/showers, nursing room, and depending on how long you have been at the company or working in a department everyone is like family, casual dress, and food service in cafeteria as well as vending machines. Increases based on performance, matching 401K

    Cons

The major conS to working at this company is room for advancement. Their website states they have room for growth, advancement, training, and they recognize their top leaders by advancing internal candidates but this is true to an extent. If you dont have the background or experience to move to a higher manager level even if you have invested time with the company, a great worker, and etc they may not hire you. Their is no training except to learn new responsibilities but no leadership training for example to move to a manager or supervisor position. Limited titles so no room for advancement unless someone quits. They have a occurence attendance system when clocking in. You get a 5 minute grace period regardless how far you are in the building which is huge to clock in. You have 12 times to be late within 1 year so thats once a month once you reach 13 its a verbal write up, then a write up, then suspension, and at your 15th terminated. I think the attendance policy needs to be less strict. You cannot call out with out sick time you get 5 days use them up in 1 year and call out write up or suspension or terminated depending where you are with your ocurrences each offense is 1 point or more. If you are sick and no time and out for days bring ina doctors note with a letter showing you were prescribed a prescription for the sickness or you will be penalized. If you vavaction time they can only be used for advance notice for vacation. you get OT when the manager wants you to have it for example if its busy otherwise no OT. Health insurance has increased dramatically. Departments raises have lessened that is split between the entire department so hardly no or very little raises these past few years no matter how hard you work. If you want to start somewhere dont believe their hype about having a career here, start here to get experience and then move on because you cant move any further up the corporate ladder unless someone quits who has been there for 10 years and still counting or if a spot opens up you have to apply interview and have that required background experience for that spot regardless if you obtained that experience at the company.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your top leaders and hire internal candiates before external and train them so they can be ready to advance to a new position. Offer a better attendance policy, more sick days. If their is no room for advancement your best employees will continue to leave and go somewhere else for their career. Change the website to tell the truth about your poor growth opportunities.

    Pros

Love working there. Great team, great communication, great work load, willing to work with your time and very much willing to help you learn and grow!

    Cons

I think the only thing that I think could be better would be more opportunities for advancement or a leadership program for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Love them.. Great organization to work for. I have loved every minute of it. Nothing to disagree with at all.
