I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Most people are nice and add to pleasant work environment. Talent is promoted and taken care of. Many actions to cater to needs of different type of staff.

Cons

Need to take more care of talent. Benefits should also match with larger banks to retain talent.

Advice to Management

Some politics at higher levels and few become arrogant if stay for long years.

    Pros

Smart coworkers who are willing to work hard. I met some longstanding friends from those years in investment banking, and continue to call on those networks today.

    Cons

A bank is a bank, and Deutsche Bank has no real defining characteristics. The job you do there will be exactly the same as the job you do anywhere -- and they don't do much to try to retain the best and most loyal talent.

    Advice to Management

    Keep your current employees happy!

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great resume experience, ability to run projects, multi-functional cross team work, great benefits packages

    Cons

Very little respect or sympathy for work-life balance. Average work day is 9-11 hours, depending on volume, market circumstances, and time of the year. They will pay you less than industry standard if you're not an AVP or higher. Once you advance to a Senior Analyst role, there is little room for movement as there are not often positions opened above you. Can be difficult to move laterally to another department for a new opportunity - more than once during my time there, the departments underwent a hiring freeze for several months or more and that meant you couldn't move anywhere. VERY fast paced environment - this is not a job where you will have time to deal with many personal matters during the day.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff to help deal with the volumes that you know are coming with the Clearing Business resulting from Dodd-Frank. Respect that not everyone on staff is comfortable with working 11 hours every day and may actually have obligations outside of work.
