Negative Outlook

I worked at Diageo full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Can work from home, great package and benefits to employees. Good bonus structure

Cons

More like a big brother to you. Must share your wins with everyone and always tell them how great you are at your job. Long hours, lots of admin work, so tend to work weekends but no overtime. An industry not in growth. Not great base salary and pay increases.

Advice to Management

Trust your employees, you have a great team, a balance of women in management would improve things

I have been working at Diageo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Global multinational that offers lots of opportunities to move internationally
Diageo has some of the worlds most established brands so selling them isnt too difficult compared to some of the competition
Fantastic office facility in London and some of the benefits are as good as you will find
Unrivalled share scheme, opportunity to make lots of money if you stay long term
Great people who are very passionate about the company
    Great regular staff events

    Cons

Some managers tend to be quite old school in their approach which doesnt help people at the early stage of their career and can intimidate some
    Competitors pay better salaries
Appraisal/Development system is poor, management don't really help you get to where you want to be they expect you to 'own' your development and do all the work yourself, which is tough when you are a new employee and don't know much about the company
Lots of focus and attention goes to graduates as opposed to other employees at the same level who are as good as and usually better performers
Lots of change and restructuring which leaves employees in limbo for long periods, and management don't do a lot to reassure employees who are under threat
Graduates are often given roles they are not worthy of and don't understand how things work at customer level which leads to a lot of pointless activities on the ground
Feedback from employees is often ignored

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and stand up for them
If you feel an idea is a bad one then say so as opposed to the view that every idea will work
Spend more time with new employees when they start instead of using team mates to get them started

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Diageo full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great working environment, incredibly friendly people and opportunities for advancement. The benefits are also very good. Opportunities exist to work worldwide and to travel within the role.

    Cons

A strong emphasis on providing fantastic opportunities to the students and graduates but less recognition goes to the other consistently hard-working people, even if they are better qualified with more experience.

    Advice to Management

There should be less of a divide between those on the graduate/student placement scheme and those who have recently left university and are following non-graduate scheme routes. More recognition should go to the people who have been with the company longer than 3 years.
