Pros

Low amount of management structure. Easy to escalate problems or opportunities. Good culture of putting customer satisfaction first. Another good reason is the ability to work in a matrixed organization. This really makes team work function efficiently. It gives the normal working stiff a chance to experience the leadership issues of product development and deployment. That in turn develops that individual for more responsibility if management is your goal. Recently extensive efforts have been made to develop some internal training programs that if you take advantage of them also enhance your net worth with no cost.

Cons

A former USA company still struggling with going global. Many of the staff will drop everything for a US customer when global ones are more important

Advice to Management

Trust in your people and invest in success.

    Pros

Management's open door policies, good co-workers. Diebold is a global company and is an industry leader in in the financial self-service business. Good opportunities for training and continued education are provided by the company.

    Cons

Limited career growth opportunities, uncertainty about future of the company. Too many changes are going on in the company. The associates support change but are not sure that management will be able to deliver. Salaries are not geared towards attracting top talent. Management is not very good with progressive work policies like flex-time, working from home, etc.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be a sharp focus on growing revenues. Accelerate the implementation of the chosen ERP system - Oracle so that efficiency can be improved and duplicate work can be eliminated. Software always seems to be a roadblock for new product introductions and needs better management support.

"It's hard to succeed and advance when the rules to do such things are constantly changing at supervisor's whim."

    Pros

Some of the perks of working for a place like Diebold would be the company car. It's nice to be able to have a vehicle to use when you have personal things to do like shopping, errands and family business and not having to switch cars between work hours. It's also nice to have a company gas card so you are not paying out of your own pocket every time you have to fill up, which can be quite a few times a week when you drive to as many calls as I did. It was also kind of nice to have a week of every other week, ( the whole 7 on, 7 off thing). I would say the most amazing thing was to see the inside of things like ATMs and other bank devices.

    Cons

There was alot of things I liked about Diebold but the one thing I couldn't stand was the management. My immediate supervisors were very neurotic and their style of managing our team changed with their mood (which changed frequently). After a while it seemed to be a situation of if you kissed enough butt and stroked enough egos then things would go your way and you would be considered the favorite. And everytime you worked hard and did get what you earned, your supervisor would treat you like they did you a favor and now you owed them something. Not to mention you also had to deal with your supervisor now having that " NOW don't act like I never did anything for you" attitude like you getting any comeuppance from them was a excuse for past, present, and future bad behavior.

    Advice to Management

Please stay consistent with your management methods and treat every employee the same ALL the time.
