Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at DigitalGlobe full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

I like the people I actually work with, they are nice, courteous and overall good people.

Cons

No room for advancement, management does not want to promote anyone. Do not expect to be paid for the job you do. They will load on the responsibilities without any additional compensation. If you complain they just say wait until your next review, then nothing. I haven’t received a promotion in 6 years, but have a ton of responsibility!!!!

Advice to Management

We are people, not human capital!!!

I worked at DigitalGlobe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome people. Picnics, bagels, social activities. Amazing work - satellite imagery is cool.

    Cons

Disconnect between senior leadership and workforce.
No insight into the real problems of the workers.
Disgruntled workforce - even more so after the merger.
Lots of business management not enough experienced technical management. Running good technical managers out by expecting too much in too short a time.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your workers - your TECHNICAL workers - when they tell you that things aren't working well. With a technical environment this large, you should have a fully functional test AND development environments.

I worked at DigitalGlobe full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked with very smart, talented people and did some of the best programming of my career. I was able to use my math & engineering skills and learned a lot about the aerospace domain. Engineers were empowered to build good software, more so than at some other places I've worked. I made a lot of friends there and was sad to go. Needed a shorter commute and better work/life balance.

    Cons

It was a sweatshop. I worked lots of hours and weekends. When I worked there they had an annual layoff. I survived 3 of them but it took a toll on morale.
