I have been working at Dignity Memorial full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Employees work hard and most are very nice and professional

Cons

Horrible organization and processes. The Family Services and Community Counselors income are based on commissions but they are so administratively overwhelmed and dragged down with busy work that other departments have not finished (but the sales team need completed in order to do their job, that it leaves them little if any time to reach out to perspective new clients...translation....working for basically no pay or just the guaranteed minimum wage. In the Seattle market only a minority of the sales staff are making quota to reach a livable wage. Very sad.

Advice to Management

Put your sales staff on salary with bonus incentives. If they are having to spend 70% of their time working on tasks that do not lead to the currently set up commission structure is it any wonder that SCI has such high turnover. You could be so much better and in the long run more productive.

    Pros

Large company with alot of affiliates, good benefits, paid vacation for seasoned Sales Agents.

    Cons

Sales agents required to work under extreme pressure, Funeral Directors rarely recieve pay raises, Maintenance & Drivers treated like second class citizens.

    Advice to Management

Value your ALL of your employees & SHARE some of the profits by giving bonuses & Holiday gifts to people other than sales!

I have been working at Dignity Memorial full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You can make a lot of money.($100,000 +)

    Safe working conditions

    Cons

If you are good at what you do, you are paid straight comission. No hourly pay. Well, about 60% of your job is made up of non-money making tasks. Furthermore, there are "sell-a-thon's" when you are expected to work late every night for a week. Again, unless you are horrible at selling and only getting your $7.25 hour base, you get no extra pay.

Life/Work balance does not exist with this company, unless you put your foot down. And then, you are seen as someone with a "bad attitude".

As other reviewers have stated, people with true sales talent quit in a short period of time. Others who lack sales skills are poorly trained and starve the first 6 months on the job, if they make it that long.

    Advice to Management

Management is aware of any advice I'd give. It wouldn't do any good. They don't care.
