Neutral Outlook
No opinion of CEO

I worked at Dillard's full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good for internal advancement. I moved up the ladder pretty quickly.

Cons

In the Florida division, people got fired kind of randomly, for odd reasons. I think if sales were bad, they started singling out Area Sales Managers kind of unfairly. One store I worked in, the whole management staff got fired in a 6 month period.

I have been working at Dillard's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Discount
    Good STORE management
Able to work with a sales team
    Ability to gain experience
Ability to communicate effectively with management

    Cons

    Sph
    Difficult to move up
Pay is not enough for the level of work required of the sales floor. Emphasis of sph makes it difficult to mmove up in company while trying to run everything smoothly off sales floor.
    The interview process is misleading

    Advice to Management

Look at things other than sph to determine adequate candidates. This promotes clerking, not customer service. Revolving doors are not good.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Dillard's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I liked the clothing discounts, and friendly people to work with.

    Cons

The store visits from the bosses in Little Rock. They would fly down for a day and tell you how bad your store looks and get on the manager if the jeans were not folded properly. So this would make all the managers for several days before the visit, forget they even had customers in the store, and make people work overtime to make sure that the store looked nice for the big-wigs. The managers would place impossible expectations upon you and as soon as the bosses left they would go back to sitting in their offices. Very dysfunctional.
