Poorly Managed and poor working conditions

Beginning pay is high. Was flexible at first
Cons
Very poor management . Poor conditions including mold and asbestos in back rooms. Extreme favoritism. Very hard for part timers to make their quotas because full timers get preferred hours and treatment. Employees often argued on the sales floor and in front of customers. Dillard’s execs still referred to female staff as girls and gals regardless of age. Middle management is very unhappy and vocal about it.

work is pretty easy and decent pay
Cons
racist company there are employees who are racist to not only other employees but also customers and management doesn’t do anything about it because those employees have been here forever and the store manager herself is also racist. Honestly it feels like high school the way the managers treat you when they’re upset. They talk bad about everyone and you feel like no one truly has your back in management. trying to maintain your “sph” is hard at times. The atmosphere dillards creates gets rid of the “5 star customer service” they strive for. You have to maintain a certain sph (sales per hour) in order to keep your pay or get a raise, if you fall behind come time for your review you’ll get a pay cut or you can lose your job. Because this is how it is you’ll have associates who barely do anything (stock, go backs, or maintain their areas) and all they do is sell something to keep their sph up. These associates don’t care about building a relationship with the customers just getting a sale. It’s a cut throat environment. Management never tells their associates they’re doing a good job and always make you feel bad if you call in or are sick. All they care about is numbers and credit cards. You’ll never get acknowledged for doing a good job or being a good employee only if you make your numbers. It’s definitely about favoritism for sure. Also the hours suck.
