I worked at Discovery Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Pretty good pay and benefits. Flexible hours depending on the department.

Cons

Many managers get promoted due to time served or the right connections but lack creativity, leadership skills or motivation. In addition, continual restructuring means that your department and/or boss can change any day.

As for innovation, the people who head up most departments have been there for a long time so they have no interest in changing the way things are done.

I have been working at Discovery Communications full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

TV at your desk. :) Volunteer opportunities. Great benefits. Lots of learning seminars, company-wide presentations. Easy to move around the company. Global opportunities for work.

    Cons

It's hard to get in the door - you need to know someone. The company can be very top-down, but if you're willing to knock on doors to get your ideas heard, you can make a difference.

    Advice to Management

Let your junior people lead once in a while!
