I have been working at Discovery Communications full-time

    Pros

They offer work/life balance programs and a supportive environment. The work is challenging, the compensation is good, and the company has an excellent reputation.

    Cons

Like most successful companies, they are most interested in the bottom dollar. People are human capital, and as such, are expendable if not profitable.

  2. "Constant change"

I worked at Discovery Communications full-time

    Pros

Large company means good benefits for parents/couples/families. With so many different departments, there are a lot of good people and bosses to work for and with, it's just a matter of finding the right fit.

    Cons

Constant change and reorganizations. Constant struggle to balance creative content with needs of advertisers. Very slow/conservative with technological change. There doesn't seem to be much of a culture or pride outside of a few pockets here and there.
