I have been working at Dollar General full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

For the most part, your DM will leave you alone and you are free to run the store.

Cons

Horrible hours! I was told 48 hours and 5.5 days a week. I consistently work 65-70 hours a week. I am in the store on many days for 5 hours alone. I am given little to no payroll which lives most of the stocking, planograms, endcaps and recovery, to me. Bases on my yearly salary and the hours I work, I make just over $9.00. And forget even being able to enjoy the one day off a week, I have to turn my phone off to get any peace!!!

Advice to Management

Invest in a little more payroll. You have done many studies on the affects of turnover when you loose a store manager. Why don't you invest in your biggest assets? Your store managers!!!!!

I have been working at Dollar General full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have a great plan for business, and if you follow it you can have a sucessful store

    Cons

They do not give the proper hours to keep the amount of help in a store needed to get the results to provide a wonderful customer experience

    Advice to Management

listen to your store managers when they give you insight fron the front lines. If the managers had sufficient hours, training, and training hours they may have teams that would provide less shrink, and more work. Most employees don't understnad what the goal is so they just don't care. Internal theft, and waste comes from untrained employees.

I worked at Dollar General full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The store was close to home.

    Cons

The manager wants you to work all kinds of crazy hours. She plays favorites with the employees. Nothing you do is ever good enough... and you only get a measly 8.25/hr.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like real people and treat them fairly.
